The unbeaten Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set to face the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad at their own backyard at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 26th May. KKR have been on a winning role in this season with three back-to-back wins from three matches and standing at the top of the points table. However, they will now play against SRH at their own den and it would not be an easy task to defeat them at their home ground.
For KKR to come out victorious against SRH at Chepauk, they will be hoping for their big players to stand out and deliver a match-winning performance in the upcoming match. One of the big players to watch out for KKR against SRH in Mitchell Starc. The Australian fast bowler went down as the most expensive player in IPL history after KKR acquired his services for a whopping ₹24.75 Crore in the IPL 2024 auction. However, his performance in the first three matches hasn’t been able to justify his price tag as he conceded 125 runs by bowling just 11 overs in three matches at an economy rate of 11.36. The left-arm pacer went wicketless in the first two games conceding 53 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens and 47 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Starc finally got his first of IPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals where he ended up registering the figures of 2/25 in three overs. Now, the KKR fans would be having high hopes from him to deliver a match-winning spell against SRH at Chepauk. Starc has played only match on this ground in his IPL career on 4th May, 2015. Playing for RCB, Starc picked up 3 wickets by conceding 24 runs in four overs against CSK.
