“There’s no chance I will make a U-turn from my retirement in the IPL 2024. I had thought about coming back before, but now it’s not possible. I’ve made my decision. Just like I’ve always been loyal to my fans and team throughout my career.”
He added, “Whenever I make a decision, I always remember lessons from my childhood. I was always taught to be clear in my decisions and stick to them.”
He further elaborated on the reasons behind his decision, citing a noticeable decline in his on-field energy in recent times. “I play only two or three months a year. The realization that I might not be at my peak was unsettling. If I can’t be the best and revolutionize the cricket game, it’s time to step aside.”
