Dennis Rodman Early Life and Career
Dennis Rodman was born in Trenton, New Jersey on 13th May, 1961. His father Philander Rodman, Jr was an Air Force enlisted member who fought in a Vietnam war. When Dennis was young, his father left the house and settled in the Philippines. In the absence of his father, his mother Shirley used to to do multiple jobs at a time to support the family financially. In his 1996 biography Bad As I Wanna Be, Rodman revealed that hadn’t seen his father for 30 years till then.
After finishing high-school from South Oak Cliff High School, Rodman used to work as janitor at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Later he attended North Central Texas where he played one season of his college Basketball career. After that, he transferred to Southeastern Oklahoma State where he caught the attention of the selectors from the NBA and was picked by Detroit Pistons as the 27th overall in the second round of the 1986 NBA draft. He played for the Pistons from 1986 to 1993 and won two title with them in 1989 and 1990.
After Pistons, Rodman went on to play for The San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. His Basketball career came to an end when he was released by the Bulls in 2000.
