Fastest 100 ODI Wickets: Nepalese cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane recently broke the record of Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan to become the bowler to reach the fastest 100 wickets in ODI. Lamicchane didn’t need more than 42 matches to secure this feat.

One-Day Internationals has been one of those formats where pacers have anchored both the beginning and tail-end of the innings. However, the onus comes on spinners in the middle-overs where they are required to stagnate the flow of runs and tantalize the batsmen to throw their wickets.

The spinners though have risen to the occasion and have secured the top places when it comes to picking the highest number of wickets in the least number of matches, outclassing some of the finest pacers in the run.

Sandeep Lamichhane (42 matches)

Lamichhane registered this milestone playing against Oman by picking 3 wickets and also helping his team to register a convincing win.

Rashid Khan (44 matches)

Afghanistan leg spinner Rashid Khan has spun the web against some big teams and dismantled the batting line-up single handedly. The right hand bowler reached his milestone against West Indies at the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup qualifier dismissing Shai Hope. Rashid has a total of 170 wickets to his name from 93 matches.

Mitchell Starc (52 matches)

Australian bowler Mitchell Starc is known for bombarding the lineup with his lethal swinging yorkers with both old and new balls. Starc’s  milestone-achieving performance came against Sri-Lanka in 2016 where he picked 3 wickets in 10 overs register the record of fastest ODI-wickets to his name.

Saqlain Mushtaq (53 matches)

Saqlain Mushtaq made his ODI debut in 1995 and did not take more than two years to achieve this record. The Pakistani spinner steered himself to 100 wickets in 53 matches with his decisive performance coming against Sri Lanka at the Independence Cup 1997 where he picked 3 scalps.

Kiwi bowler Shane Bond was undoubtedly the fastest bowler in the history. The right handed bowler was playing in the Commonwealth Series where he comprehensively showcased his bowling spectacle to register his 100^th scalp and so the win against England.

Australian quick bowler Brett Lee used to hardly break a sweat to unleash his fury with his 150 kmph bouncers. The Aussie bowler dismantled the batting line of England in the 5^th ODI at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) where he sent half of the team back to the pavilion on his own and also naming the record to himself.

Indian pacer Mohammad Shami has been the arc of experience in the bowling line-up for his country. The pacer picked 4 wickets and destroyed the Sri Lankan bowling line-up. Shami has a total of 162 wickets from 90 matches.

Jasprit Bumrah (57 matches)

Indian young gun Jasprit Bumrah is the second Indian to reach the fastest 100 wickets in ODI. He achieved this feat in his 57^th match against Sri Lanka at the 2019 World Cup. The Indian has a total of 121 wickets from 73 matches.
