The Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA), with the support of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA), has started its own league called the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) to provide a new platform for the cricket talents of the state.
The inaugural edition will kick off on June 15, 2024, at MPCA Internation Cricket Stadium in Gwalior featuring a total of 5 teams based on prominent cities in Madhya Pradesh: the Bhopal Leopards, Gwalior Cheetahs, Rewa Jaguars, Jabalpur Lions, and Malwa Panthers.
The five teams will compete in a round-robin format where each team faces every other team twice. The top team, after the completion of all 10 league matches, will advance to the final, which is scheduled to be played on June 23, 2024. The second and third-ranked teams will face off in the eliminator to get the Final ticket.
The first match of the Madhya Pradesh League is scheduled to be played between the Gwalior Cheetahs, led by current IPL champion and prominent all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, and the Malwa Panthers, led by RCB’s explosive batter Rajat Patidar, on June 15, 2024, at 7:30 PM.
