KL Rahul led India to a stellar victory in the first ODI against South Africa at the Wanderers Stadium in Sandton to take a lead of 1-0 in a three-match series. With this, he also became the first-ever Indian captain to win a Pink ODI against the Proteas. Bowling first, India bowled South Africa out for just 116 runs, powered by the fierce spells by Arshdeep Singh (5/37) and Avesh Khan (4/27). In reply, India chased the winning in 16.4 overs losing two wickets with Sai Sudharsan and Shreyas Iyer scoring half-centuries. KL Rahul also did tremendous work in leading the team and backed his bowlers as they bowled out the Proteas on a low score. He also has a good record in the matches he had captained for the Indian team.
