Gautam Gambhir is a former Indian international cricketer, born on October 14’ 1981, in New Delhi, India. Gambhir was a player for the Indian cricket team in all formats from 2003- 2016.

-After taking his retirement from cricket, Gambhir entered politics and has been a part of the parliament in the Lok Sabha since 2019, representing the East Delhi constituency and being a member of the BJP.  Gautam also won the fourth highest civilian Padma Shri award in India in 2019, for his remarkable role in cricket.

He played an integral part in India's wins in the finals  in the 2007 World Twenty20 (75 runs from 54 balls). 

-Gambhir's performances in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 were pivotal in India's triumph and helped establish his reputation as a reliable and aggressive opener in T20 cricket.

Gautam Gambhir played a crucial role in India's triumph at the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup (97 from 122).

– Gambhir formed important partnerships during the final, particularly with Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. His partnership with Kohli (83 runs) helped India recover from the early losses, and his stand with Dhoni (109 runs) took India to the brink of victory.

Gambhir, who is well known for his passionate and disciplinarian approach to coaching, was the mentor of Lucknow Super Kings in 2022 and 2023.

 He Joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in March 2019.

-Elected as Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha, representing the East Delhi constituency.

-Gautam Gambhir was awarded the Arjuna Awards in 2009.

-The International Cricket Council (ICC) named Gambhir as the Test Player of 2009.

-He received the Padma Shri from the Government of India in 2019, the fourth highest civilian award in India.

After his stint with the Lucknow Super Giants, Gautam Gambhir returned to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a mentor in 2024, guiding them to their 3rd  IPL title.
