For the first time in cricket history, West Indies has introduced multi-year contracts for men’s and women’s cricketers covering the next two years.
The initiative made by the Cricket West Indies is part of a new four-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in January 2024 between the West Indies Players’ Association and the board.

Nine cricketers became part of this historical movement that will change WI cricket for both males and females. A total of 15 senior men’s players received contracts, with six players awarded multi-year contracts.
Three women received multi-year contracts, while 12 were offered one-year contracts.
Here is the list of Multi-year contract players-
Male Player Multi-Year Contracts: Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Shamarh Brooks, Brandon King, Gudakesh Motie, and Jayden Seales.
Female Player Multi-Year Contracts: Shemaine Campbelle, Hayley Matthews, and Stafanie Taylor.

Male Player One-Year Contracts: Alick Athanaze, Kraigg Brathwaite, Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Joshua Da Silva, Kavem Hodge, Akeal Hosein, Romario Shepherd, and Rovman Powell.
Female Player One-Year Contracts: Aaliyah Alleyne, Shamilia Connell, Deandra Dottin, Afy Fletcher, Cherry-Ann Fraser, Chinelle Henry, Zaida James, Qiana Joseph, Chedean Nation, Karishma Ramharack, Rashada Williams, and Ashmini Munisar.
This policy came after the West Indies Board analyzed how Global T20 leagues have shrunken the values of International Cricket among the players. This is a good start for both the WI cricket board and players for maintaining the integrity of the sport.
