writer Thanja Veur has gone viral, where she expressed disappointment at her country’s lack of support for the women’s cricket team.
In her emotional message, Thanja congratulated India for their victory but pointed out the difference in passion between the two nations.
“India, you won this World Cup — and you deserved to. But do you know why? Because your country truly cares. Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, even VVS Laxman came to the stadium to support your girls. But from South Africa? No one!” she said in the video.
Thanja further criticized South Africa’s former cricketers and officials, questioning their absence from the grand finale.
“Where were our legends — AB de Villiers, Shaun Pollock, Jacques Kallis? Maybe this tournament wasn’t ‘high-profile’ enough for them. I don’t even think our Sports Minister was there,” she added.
South African actress and writer Thanja Vuur, who proudly identifies as a “cricket nerd," has slammed South Africans for not supporting their women’s cricket team during the ICC Women’s World Cup.

“Our Girls Played Hard, But No One Cared”
The actress praised the South African women’s team for their effort but said the lack of national backing was heartbreaking.
“Our girls worked hard and played beautifully, but when no one stands by them, what message does that send? Did everyone already believe we’d lose?” she questioned.
Thanja also applauded India’s cricket culture, calling it unmatched.
“Cricket in India isn’t just a sport — it’s their breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They live this game. They are the true champions and deserve every bit of this win,” she said.
