The high-voltage India vs Pakistan Super 4 clash in the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium turned heated on and off the field, as Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf found himself at the center of controversy. The speedster, who picked up two wickets, became a talking point for his provocative gestures aimed at Indian fans during the match.
Haris Rauf’s ‘6-0’ Gesture
During the September 21 clash, videos surfaced showing Rauf making the “6-0” hand signal towards Indian supporters while fielding near the boundary ropes. The gesture quickly went viral and was widely criticized online, with fans calling it “disgusting” and “incompetent.”
The reference to “6-0” has its roots in Pakistan’s unverified claims of shooting down six Indian fighter jets during Operation Sindoor, following the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year.
Fighter Jet Mimicry & Fan Reactions
The gestures came in response to Indian fans chanting “Kohli, Kohli” at the pacer. Virat Kohli, though not playing in this match, remains a sore memory for Rauf after smashing him for two iconic sixes in the 2022 T20 World Cup clash at Melbourne.
ABSOLUTE DISGRACE THAT SCUMS LIKE THESE ARE ALLOWED ON A CRICKET FIELD.

As the chants grew louder, Rauf was seen mocking the crowd with fighter jet hand movements and repeatedly flashing the “6-0” sign. Clips of these antics circulated widely, igniting backlash across cricket communities.

Despite the controversy, Rauf was Pakistan’s most effective bowler on the day. He dismissed India captain Suryakumar Yadav for a duck and later sent back Sanju Samson (13 off 17), finishing with 2/26 in four overs.

However, India’s opening pair Shubman Gill (64 off 38) and Abhishek Sharma (59 off 33) laid the platform for a successful chase of 172 with a 105-run partnership. India eventually secured a six-wicket win, their second over Pakistan in the tournament.
Tensions also spilled over during the fifth over when Gill hit Rauf for a boundary. Rauf exchanged words with Abhishek Sharma, forcing umpire Gazi Sohel to step in. After the game, Abhishek revealed he was unhappy with Pakistan’s “unnecessary aggression” and responded by attacking the bowlers to help his side dominate.
This was not the first time Rauf’s “6-0” slogan drew attention. On the eve of the Super 4 clash, he was also caught on camera shouting “6-0” during Pakistan’s practice session at the ICC Academy. Many linked the phrase directly to political propaganda rather than cricketing banter, intensifying the storm surrounding him.
With emotions running high in the Asia Cup 2025, Haris Rauf’s antics have fueled further tension in the India–Pakistan rivalry. While he impressed with the ball, his controversial gestures overshadowed his performance, drawing sharp criticism from fans and pundits alike.
