The third edition of WCPL (Women Caribbean Premier League) 2024 is set to commence on the 22nd at Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad. The 2024 season-opening match of WCPL is scheduled between the reining champion Barbados Royals Women and Guyana Amazon Warriors Women held in Trinidad and Tobago, one of the islands in the West Indies region.
Last year, in a close game Barbados Royals Women beat the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women by 8 runs after posting 169 runs in the 20 overs. BRW’s Hayley Matthews won the Player of the Match for her incredible innings with both bat and balls. Matthews posted 82 runs off 59 balls while taking the two wickets for 38 runs.
In the upcoming WCPL 2024, once again Barbados Royals Women and Guyana Amazon Warriors Women will fight against each other and start the 3rd season of the Women’s Caribbean T20 League.

WCPL 2024 Schedule
All 7 matches of WCPL 2024 including the Final are going to be hosted by the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Tarouba. Like the previous edition, in the 3rd edition of Women CPL 2024, there will be three teams battling with each other twice in the round-robin stage.
After 6 league matches of WCPL 2024, the top two finalist teams will face each other in the 7th match. The Final Match of WCPL 2024 is scheduled for 30th August and concludes with the WCPL 2024 Final winner.

WCPL 2024 Captain and Head Coach
In the Women Caribbean Premier League 2024, Hayley Mathews will lead the previous champion Barbados Royals Women. On the other side, the 2023 WCPL runner-up Guyana Amazon Warriors Women will be led by Stafanie Taylor. Last but not least, the first-season winner of WCPL 2022, Trinbago Knight Riders Women is captained by Deandra Dottin.
This year, Knight Riders Franchise appointed former Indian legend Jhulan Goswami as a mentor for the TKRW. Another major change they have made during the auction is to add the two Indian players- Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey. Both are prominent Indian players and will contribute to making the team stronger than before.

WCPL 2024 Squad
Since the inception of WCPL in 2022, only three teams have been participating in this Caribbean Women’s T20 league. These three WCPL teams are as follows:-

- TKRW – Trinbago Knight Riders Women
Trinbago Knight Riders Women have won the inaugural season of WCPL in 2022. Where defending champion Barbados Royals Women defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women and won their maiden WCPL Trophy in 2023. In the upcoming WCPL 2024 edition let’s see whether last year’s runner-up Guyana Amazon Warriors Women will secure their first WCPL title or not.
