India Women team will play without a prolific batter, Veda Krishnamurthy, who is an important face from the World Cup runner-up squad, as she has taken a call to retire from all forms of cricket.
Veda officially took to social media to share an emotional note, thanking everyone who supported her journey spanning 13 years. This 32-year-old woman cricketer is a small-town girl from Karnataka who represented India on the world stage and performed in various departments of cricket.

Veda has been featured in 48 ODIs and 76 T20Is between 2011 and 2020. She was best known for her aggressive middle-order batting and electrifying fielding. As a part-time bowler, handling leg-spin bowling, Veda has also taken three dismissals in the white-ball cricket format with 50 overs. One of her biggest achievements was being part of the Indian team that finished runners-up in the 2017 Women’s ODI World Cup in England and the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
