Suryavanshi’s blistering innings ensured India quickly overtook Australia’s first-innings score of 243. His aggressive strokeplay left bowlers with no answers, as 84 of his runs came through boundaries.
By the close of Day 2, India U19 were 356/6, holding a commanding lead of 113 runs. While Suryavanshi’s fireworks stole the spotlight, Vedant Trivedi provided strong support with an unbeaten 120, stabilising India’s innings and pushing them towards a big first-innings advantage.
Records and Achievements
- Fastest Youth Test century on Australian soil (78 balls).
- Second player after Brendon McCullum to score two Youth Test tons under 100 balls.
- Among the youngest players (14 years) to register a Youth Test century.
Suryavanshi has already become a household name after his breakthrough IPL season earlier this year with Rajasthan Royals, where he scored the fastest IPL century by an Indian. His performance in Brisbane shows his adaptability across formats and conditions, raising expectations for his rise into senior cricket.
India U19 look well-placed to push for victory in the four-day contest, thanks to Suryavanshi’s power-hitting and Trivedi’s steady hand. For Suryavanshi, this knock adds another glittering chapter to a career that is only just beginning.
