The players who are part of the eagerly awaited auction are on the radar for massive bids that stirred in Mumbai on May 7. In the auction, Mumbai-based local cricket talents have secured massive prices as Atharva Ankolekar got sold for 16.25 lakhs, while Sairaj Patil and Musheer Khan attracted a bid worth 15 lakhs each.
Witnessing a domestic T20 tournament built around the participation of 280 players, there is curiosity around the auction as to which players are on the cards for the eight franchises that will renew their squads. The teams will show up from May 26 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, leading to a final match on June 8.
Featuring in Eagle Thane Strikers, an Under-19 star player, Atharva Ankolekar received the highest bid of a massive 16.25 lakhs. Notably, he was a leading wicket-taker in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, along with being a player of the match in the final match. Also, Eagle Thane Strikers acquired the services of an all-rounder, Sairaj Patil, at a giant price of 15 lakhs. In the auction, 20-year-old Musheer Khan, who is picked up by ARCS Andheri, also at a whopping amount of 15 lakhs. Known for his all-round performances, with slow left-arm orthodox bowling and right-hand batting, Musheer represents Mumbai in first-class cricket. As a rising star, he was up for grabs as his average (51.14) justifies his pricing in the T20 Mumbai League auction. Talking about his bowling performances, Musheer is a probable sensation for renowned batters as he has shown spectacular spells.
Another batting powerhouse who is an emerging young cricketer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is Ayush Mahtre, who represents Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025. This 17-year-old cricketer is making waves in IPL with his first half-century in only 25 balls in IPL where he hit a massive 94 runs off 48 balls. Mahtre is the third-youngest cricketer in IPL to go for a fifty at an age below 18 years. In the auction held on Wednesday, Ayush Mahtre was bought by Triumph Knights Mumbai North East at a whopping price of 14.75 lakhs, becoming one of the expensive cricketers in the T20 Mumbai League 2025.
The developments around the T20 Mumbai League 2025 highlighted other proclaimed names, such as Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who was sold at 14 lakhs to play with SoBo Mumbai Falcons. In the current IPL 2025 season, he represents Kolkata Knight Riders. Among icon players, Suryakumar Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Tushar Deshpande, Prithvi Shaw, Shivam Dube, Shardul Thakur, and Sarfaraz Khan were fetched at the price of 20 lakhs each.
