After six consecutive losses at the toss, India’s Test captain Shubman Gill finally broke his streak in the second Test against West Indies at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. The young skipper, leading India for the seventh time in Tests, won the toss and elected to bat — a small but much-awaited moment for both him and the team.

Gill’s luck had deserted him since taking over as captain in June 2025. He lost all five tosses on the England tour and another in Ahmedabad earlier this month. As soon as the coin landed in his favour, Gautam Gambhir, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah congratulated him with wide smiles and hugs, while Mohammed Siraj and the rest of the squad joined in with laughter.
