India’s wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson smashed a stormy innings just within a week of his selection for the Asia Cup 2025. Known for masterclass batting as an opener, Samson is once again making waves as he notched up a quickfire ton in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) 2025 on August 24.Â
Stalwart batter Samson redefined and crafted his electrifying batting while opening for Kochi Blue Tigers, turning a typical 237-run chase into an empowering opportunity. The 30-year-old batter set the foundation for a last-over finish as he totally dominated all bowlers at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. Without a dent of pressure, Samson cheered up with his fearless shots.
Sanju Samson Justifies Asia Cup Selection
In Match No. 8 of the tournament, Kochi Blue Tigers faced Aries Kollam Sailors, who also looked fierce as Vishnu Vinod hit 94 in 41 and Sachin Baby collected 91 in 44. When Tigers came to bat, the high win probability for them hung in doubt. However, Samson extended the run-fest, scoring 121 in 51 balls, making a monumental chase possible. He hit 14 fours and 7 sixes and summed up his innings at a strike rate of 237.25.
Saly Viswanadh Samson-led Tigers won the match as Ashik Muhammed finished the match with a six in the last ball of the 20th over, signalling the high-scoring match ended with a spectacular victory.
With around two weeks left for the Asia Cup to begin, Samson has cleared his intent, justifying his selection for the upcoming tournament. His composed innings earned him the Player of the Match Award, taking home both respect and confidence.
