Before the start of the Indian Premier League in 2024, the Rajasthan Royals started a campaign to support women-led transformation in the state, also dedicating their new jersey to the initiative. Now, before the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, they announced that they would power six homes with solar power for every six that were hit by both teams.
They also launched a special pink jersey ahead of the clash as a part of the campaign and will donate all proceeds from the sales to the foundation. They also committed to donate 100 rupees for every ticket that is purchased for the match. There are also a lot of activities scheduled during the day, like homegrown Rajasthani women cultural artists and entertainers performing at the iconic stadium before the match. RR CEO Jake Lush McCrum said, “With the vision of ‘Aurat Hai Toh Bharat Hai’, the Foundation has positively impacted the lives of more than 15 million women in Rajasthan over the last five years, and our ambition is to create a rural transformation model that can be replicated and scaled up in not just other parts of Rajasthan but also across the country.”
RR has had a great start to the season, winning three out of their three fixtures. They look ferocious in their bowling department, and the resurgence of Riyan Parag has added stability to the batting lineup. Last year, the team’s middle order was too dependent on the services of Shimron Hetmyer, but this year has been different as Parag came out as a dependable batter, scoring in all three matches. The openers, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal, are yet to fire, but once they get going, RR’s batting would look ominous.
For the RCB, the story has been similar to previous seasons; they have just secured a single victory in four games. The batting lacks consistency and is very much dependent on the shoulders of Virat Kohli, as Faf, Maxwell, Patidar, and Green have yet to make an impact.
It would be a tough outing for the challengers, as Jaipur could make things a bit complicated given the record of the hosts.
