The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) saw Kolkata Knight Riders get their hands on the trophy for the third time in history. Shreyas Iyer and co. beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final in Chennai to win the championship. It was a one-sided win where they didn’t allow SRH to get away at any points. The result came within 30 overs, and it was the shortest knockout game ever in the IPL.
However, after the win, KKR won the title and also the cash prize of INR 20 crore, while Sunrisers Hyderabad won the runner-up sheild and a cash prize of INR 12.5 crore. After the game, various awards were distributed to the top performers in the competition. Sunil Narine bagged the MVP of the Season and Fantasy Player of the Season awards, while Harshal Patel, who picked up the most wickets this season, won the Purple Cap. Virat Kohli also won the Orange Cap in the IPL 2024.
IPL 2024: Ambati Rayudu trolls Virat Kohli for winning “Orange Cap”
The former RCB captain scored the most runs in the tournament. Virat Kohli scored 741 runs in 15 innings at an average and strike rate of 61.75 and 154.69, respectively. He scored one hundred and five half-centuries, and his best of 113 not out came against Rajasthan Royals. After 2016, it was the second time that Virat won the Orange Cap. His team, RCB, finished fourth in the table after losing Eliminator against RR. Notably, after RCB’s elimination, former CSK star Ambati Rayudu trolled RCB in his social media post.
A dominating season of 7️⃣4️⃣1️⃣ runs with the bat in 1️⃣5️⃣ matches 😎❤️

He faced a lot of criticism after that. But after the IPL 2024 final, he made another indirect comment on RCB. In a discussion on Star Sports, he indirectly pointed at Virat Kohli and said that winning the Orange Cap doesn’t mean, you won the title. Rayudu said,
“Congratulations to the KKR team for really standing up for stalwarts like Narine, Russell, and Starc, and also contributing their share in the team’s win. That’s how a team wins the IPL. We have seen this over the years. It’s not the Orange Cap that wins you the IPL but it is the contributions like 300 runs each (from many players).”
Notably, RCB beat CSK in the last group match for both teams at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, which was the reason that CSK were knocked out of the competition. RCB and their fans celebrated the win in animated fashion, which might have forced Rayudu to troll them on their Eliminator loss. He posted a video of himself and other CSK players in a bus while celebrating the fifth IPL title. That video spread like a fire in the woods, and RCB fans hit him back.
