Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been crowned ICC Player of the Month for August 2025 after his match-winning performance in the dramatic Oval Test against England. Siraj fiery spells not only helped India clinch a thrilling six-run win but also ensured the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy ended in a 2-2 draw.
This is one of the biggest milestones of Siraj career, as he became the only Indian pacer to play all five Tests in the series and finish as the highest wicket-taker for India.
Siraj Oval Test Heroics
Siraj delivered one of the most memorable performances of his career during the final Test at The Oval.

On the tense final morning, Siraj picked up three quick wickets to turn the match on its head and secure a famous Indian win by just six runs. His consistency across all five Tests was a major factor in India comeback after losing the first two games.
Speaking after receiving the award, Siraj expressed his gratitude:
“It is a special honour to be named ICC Player of the Month. The Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy was one of the most intense series I’ve been part of, and I’m proud that I could contribute in crucial moments. Bowling against a strong batting lineup in their home conditions brought out the best in me. This award belongs as much to my teammates and support staff as it does to me.”
Siraj also dedicated the award to Indian fans, promising to keep working hard and give his best every time he wears the India jersey.
Following his performance, Siraj also achieved his career-best ICC Men Test Bowling Ranking, capping off an unforgettable month. He finished the series with 23 wickets in 5 Tests at an average of 32.43, including two five-wicket hauls.
Orla Prendergast Wins Women Award
Ireland Orla Prendergast bagged the ICC Women Player of the Month award for August 2025. She was the Player of the Series in Ireland 2-1 T20I victory over Pakistan, scoring 144 runs and taking four wickets. She also excelled in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, scoring 244 runs and taking seven wickets.
Prendergast said the award validates her decision to pursue cricket professionally:
“Visibility is so important in growing interest in women’s cricket. Awards like these inspire the next generation and highlight the progress of the women’s game worldwide.”
Siraj’s recognition is a huge boost for India as they gear up for the busy cricket calendar ahead, including the home Test series against New Zealand and the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. His rise as India’s pace spearhead continues to be one of the most significant success stories in Indian cricket.
