Mayank Yadav Injury Update: An Indian fast bowler with an ability to bowl over 150 km/h consistently is very rare. But Mayank Yadav caught the eyeballs of many when he consistently clocked speeds well over 150 km/h in the IPL 2024 for Lucknow Super Giants. That was the reason that the franchise retained the 22-year-old ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Everyone was excited to see him bowling once again for LSG. There were some reports that he would be available after a few games for LSG as he was recovering from his injury and was doing his rehab. Notably, LSG are scheduled to face Punjab Kings for their first home game of the IPL 2025, which will be played at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Many Indian fans were keen to watch the pacer bowl thunderbolts in the game. But ahead of the match, LSG head coach Justin Langer made a big revelation about Mayank’s availability. The head coach revealed that Mayank has sustained another injury, which is likely to keep him away from action for another couple of weeks.
IPL 2025: “Mayank Yadav to miss the action for another two weeks” – LSG Head coach Justin Langer
Lucknow Super Giants started the IPL 2025 with a thriller against Delhi Capital. They were unlucky as it ended in DC’s favour. But LSG bounced back pretty well to beat strong Sunrisers Hyderabad in their second game. LSG will face Punjab Kings in their third game in Lucknow on April 1. HOwver, ahead of the DC’s clash, Langer confirmed that it will take time for Mayank to make a comeback.
Ahead of the LSG’s season opener, Langer said, “Mayank, who everyone was very excited about last year, he was going quite well (coming back from a back injury), and he kicked his toe on the bed. He got an infection in his toe. It’s put his rehab back about a week or two weeks.”
It came as a big blow for LSG and their fans as Mayank Yadav was not the only pacer to get injured. Mohsin Khan has already been ruled out, and LSG signed Shardul Thakur in his place. Avesh Khan missed the first game due to injury, while Akash Deep is still recovering from his injury.
However, Langer said that they are monitoring Mayank’s progress, and he has started bowling at the nets. Though there is no confirmation for his return, he is likely to miss the first half of the IPL 2025. LSG, who are struggling to find a settled bowling unit due to injuries, will hope that their backup bowlers can perform well meanwhile.
