The fourth season of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 is set to begin on August 11, 2025, featuring six franchise-based teams. The auction for this much-awaited tournament took place on July 16 (Monday) with intensified bidding. The stalwart batsman who hails from Karnataka, Devdutt Padikkal, received the highest bid during the day as Hubli Tigers picked up his services at a whopping INR 13.20 lakhs. With this aggressive bid, he has become the most costly cricketer of the auction held in 2025.
All the teams have chosen their 18-member squad to revamp the strategy. Out of all franchises, the Hubli Tigers spent heavily in the auction, marking a focused investment in the top-notch cricketing talents. Besides Padikkal, the franchise also brought in Abhinav Manohar, who has a price tag of INR 12.20 lakhs. The previous champions, Mysore Warriors, roped in a seasoned cricketer, Manish Pandey, at the same cost, jumping on the bandwagon.
Amid a string of acquisitions, Samit Dravid, who is Rahul Dravid’s son, has remained unsold in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 auction. According to the sources, the star-studded event excluded him, receiving several questions as to what didn’t work for him despite his name being nominated under Category C, prepared for the junior wing of state players. His name was missing from the final list.
Speaking of other franchises, Shivamogga Lions bought the services of a pacer, Vidwath Kaverappa for INR 10.80 lakh. Meanwhile, an emerging bowler, Vidyadhar Patil, received the contract worth INR 8.30 lakh as Bengaluru Blasters selected him in the squad.
