Batting all-rounder Kieron Pollard has scripted history by completing 14,000 runs in the shortest format of cricket, taking 712 T20 matches to achieve this remarkable feat. The former West Indies player ranks second in the list of international cricketers, moving past another Caribbean power hitter Chris Gayle.
A record-breaking innings came in the 16th group stage match as part of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 as Trinbago Knight Riders took on Barbados Royals at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad on August 29 (Friday).
The iconic West Indies player, Pollard, needed just 19 runs before the match to cross the milestone of 14,000 runs in 20-20 overs match, and once done and dusted, he would join his former team mate Chris Gayle in the elite club. The all-rounder did not delay the mission to chase 179 runs as Trinbago Knight Riders were following the target at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad and won the match with 7 wickets in hand. Pollard played a knock of 19 in 9 balls without getting out.
With this record-breaking moment, Pollard is now 563 runs away from becoming the number one batter in T20 cricket after Chris Gayle. He has 64 half-centuries and one hundred in T20 cricket. When Pollard batted on Saturday, his show with the bat was worth watching as he hit one maximum and two fours to stamp victory for his side. In this match, Pollard made one more record to hit the highest sixes in the CPL when he guided the ball towards the boundary for a maximum.
