Jos Buttler defined the masterclass batting, smashing not just 77 runs in 46 balls, rising to an epic milestone in his T20 career by moving past 13,000 runs, elevating Lancashire to the quarter-finals. His powerful innings was decorated with 8 fours and 3 sixes, with his maximums coming in consecutive overs while facing spin as he directed the ball towards the long-on.
In a high-voltage Vitality Blast Men clash, England’s white-ball maestro Jos Buttler added another feather to his illustrious cap by becoming only the second English cricketer and the seventh overall to cross 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. The landmark came during a commanding knock for Lancashire against Yorkshire in a North Group clash of the Vitality Blast 2025 at Headingley, Leeds, on July 17.
During the stunning knock, Buttler surpassed another English cricketer, James Vince (12,461 runs in 443 matches) and an Indian batting legend, Rohit Sharma (12,248 runs in 463 matches), taking just 457 matches to achieve the historical milestone. Now, Buttler stands behind David Warner and Virat Kohli with a gap of 349 runs and 497 runs respectively.
Jos Buttler becomes the 7th player to complete 13000 runs in T20 Cricket.

Batting first after winning the toss, Lancashire posted a competitive total (174), thanks largely to Buttler’s destructive knock. Coming in after the early dismissal of Keaton Jennings (7), Buttler accelerated after Phil Salt’s brisk 42-run start, anchoring the innings and reaching the career milestone of 13,046 runs in 457 T20 matches at a stunning average of 35.74.
Yorkshire’s bowling attack saw Jordan Thompson, Jafer Chohan, and Matt Milnes claim two wickets each, while Dan Moriarty and Will Sutherland chipped in with one each.
In response, Yorkshire struggled during the chase, losing early wickets, including Jonny Bairstow (5) and Dawid Malan (19). While Abdullah Shafique showed resistance with a fluent 54 off 34 balls, Yorkshire’s middle order failed to support the effort. Lancashire’s bowlers dominated, with veteran James Anderson and Chris Green leading the charge with three wickets each. Luke Wood picked up two, while Tom Aspinwall and Jack Blatherwick added one each to seal a 21-run win for Lancashire.
Buttler’s latest milestone and match-winning performance once again underline his status as one of the finest T20 batters in the world, continuing to set benchmarks in the shortest format of the game.
