IPL 2024 Playoffs: The KKR, RR, SRH, and RCB are the four qualifiers for the IPL knockout stage. The IPL Group Stage is over now after the RR vs KKR 70th match was washed out by the rain.
On Sunday 19th May, the final group match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals was canceled in the Barsapara Stadium due to rain. For the past 10 days, a few IPL matches got abandoned because of an early monsoon rain shower.
After SRH defeated PBKS and won the last match by 4 wickets, beat the Rajasthan Royals in the top two-team race with 17 points and a +0.414 net run rate for the season. Sunrisers became eligible for the IPL Qualifier 1 round to battle with Knight Riders in the upcoming 71 match on 21st May. However, fans have been worrying that rain will spoil the IPL Playoff Q1 round between KKR and SRH.
What then? Will there be any Reserve Day for the IPL 2024 Playoffs, if the rain starts to ruin the game?
Well! We are here to kill all your curiosity and bring the answers. The answer is No, there is no reserve day for IPL Qualifier 1, Eliminator, or Qualifier 2 except for the Final game.
If rain disrupts then umpires will have an additional 120 minutes to at least play 5 overs for each side. If it’s not possible then Super Over will be played and the result will be announced based on the winner. Even if this is not allowed by the rain the umpire will declare the result on the points table ranking. However, the weather will be clear for the upcoming matches in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
According to the AccuWeather report, there is no rain forecast in Ahmedabad on the 21st and 22nd of May 2024. For the IPL qualifier 1 match 71 KKR vs SRH and Eliminator RR vs RCB are scheduled at Narendra Modi Stadium.
Also, there are only 4-5% chances for rain in the IPL Qualifier 2 on 24 May and the Final on Sunday 26 May at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. But if rain hits it again then there might be a Reserve Day for the Final.
Still, there is no clarity from the BCCI officials yet. In the last season, the CSK vs GT match was played on Reserve Day, so there are chances of some back for this year too.
