Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has signed South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder as a replacement for England’s Brydon Carse for IPL 2025. Carse has been ruled out due to a toe injury that he suffered during England’s Champions Trophy 2025 match against Australia. Brydon Carse was picked up by SRH in IPL 2025 auction at the base price of 1.00 Cr. Carse is known for his ability to bowl at 145kph (90mph) regularly.
In the recent series against India, Carse was added to the playing 11 in place of injured Gus Atkinson in the second T20I. Carse took this opportunity with both hands, scoring 31 runs off just 17 balls while picking up three wickets in the second innings.
Brydon Carse took 9 wickets in the T20 series in just four games and was just behind the star of the series Varun Chakaravarthy (14 wickets). Brydon Carse dismissed Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav twice in the series while taking other vital wickets of Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Abhishek Sharma and Rinku Singh.
Mulder, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, will now join SRH for INR 75 lakh. The 26-year-old recently played in the Champions Trophy for South Africa, taking six wickets in three matches. He has represented his country in 11 T20Is, 18 Tests, and 25 ODIs, picking up 60 international wickets and scoring 970 runs.

SRH, last season’s runners-up, will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 23. This will be Mulder’s first time playing in the IPL.
