The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a tough place to succeed, especially when salaries are as high as they are. Some stars manage to do well while others do not. Fans tracking player form and upcoming trades can stay updated on IPL match odds through Winmatch 365. There are more than a few players who have failed to live up to the hype who could get a fresh start in the future.
1. Venkatesh Iyer – Kolkata Knight Riders

With a strike rate of 139.22 and an average of 20.29 over 11 innings, Iyer isn’t providing significant bowling contributions. His price tag is massive considering the disappointing return, which makes him an ideal trade candidate.
2. Shivan Dube – Chennai Super Kings

Dube may not be as disappointing as some others on the list, but his lack of bowling impact and overall strike rate hurt, especially considering his price and his reputation as an all-rounder. CSK may be ready to move on here.
3. Shimron Hetmyer – Rajasthan Royals

Hetmyer was brought in to be a specialist finisher, giving him already high expectations. But a lack of hitting, combined with an inability to close out games, has left Rajasthan with the possibility of having to move on.
4. Ishan Kishan – Sunrisers Hyderabad

His minimal bowling has been disappointing, though he did score over a century with a high score of 106. That said, he is supposed to be a high-value wicketkeeper-batsman, and his lack of consistency hurts. SRH could look to find someone cheaper or more impactful.
5. Glenn Maxwell – Punjab Kings

With 41 runs in 6 matches, Maxwell has consistently been an underperformer in IPL. Despite his reputation, his bat has been especially troubling. Given his high price and inconsistent run production, he is a strong candidate for being traded.
6. Mohammed Shami – Sunrisers Hollywood

Shami has struggled with fitness concerns and a lack of rhythm so far, different than others on the list. Though he doesn’t have much in the way of advanced stats, reports indicate his performance to be lacking. With injury concerns and a drop in form, he could be on the move.
7. Will Jacks – Mumbai Indians

Jacks isn’t a big letdown, but his high price tag and lack of consistency with the bat make him a prime candidate to be traded. The Indians may look for someone who can deliver a more reliable performance, opening Jacks up to new opportunities.
8. Faf du Plessis – Delhi Capitals

Du Plessis is interesting compared to others on this list in that he isn’t all that expensive. That said, his 2025 numbers show a serious dip, particularly as a top-order batsman. His price makes him worth looking at, but Delhi may be looking for someone more impactful.
9. R Ashwin – Chennai Super Kings

Ashwin is primarily a spinner, but his limited wicket-taking abilities, not to mention a lack of effectiveness, hurt him. With his high price tag and age, CSK could be looking for a more dynamic option with more years ahead of them.
