The practice session is set to begin for the India Women ahead of the Women’s World Cup 2025 as the selected 15-member squad will gather at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vizag on August 25. Right before the three-match white-ball series in 50-over format, the preparatory campaign will kick off to make players physically and mentally ready for the big event.Â
Scheduled for a week, the camp mandates that all the players report a day before. As per the reports, the practice session will also involve six stand-by players. That being said, Sayali Satghare, who is a prominent face in the Australia series, will also be part of the camp. In her place, renowned all-rounder Amanjot Kaur will be a frontrunner in the World Cup.
It is anticipated that the camp will also feature the India A squad. However, most of the players are active for an unofficial Test, facing Australia A. Radha Yadav, who is the India A skipper in the Test format. Currently leading the team in Brisbane, may join the camp after landing to India as the match ends on August 24.
Vizag as Strategic VenueÂ
It dates back to 2014, when the India Women’s team last appeared in ODIs in Visakhapatnam. Opting for Vizag as the camp venue is a strategic step as India will face two top-tier teams in Visakhapatnam. India will meet South Africa and Australia at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, for two back-to-back clashes on October 9 and October 12. These matches will be played as part of the round-robin format in the World Cup.
The upcoming camp is designed for the India Women’s team to concentrate on skills, indicating the next version of the previously organised 10-day camp in August. The camp, which was organised in Bengaluru, stressed the importance of fielding practice, fitness, including virtual practice before the real match begins.
As per the sources, the camp will also feature intra-squad matches under floodlights ahead of the awaited home matches against Australia, separating for a short duration before they assemble again. The first ODI between India Women and Australia Women will take place on September 14 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.
