India A’s journey in the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 ended in the most dramatic fashion, as the team suffered a Super Over defeat to Bangladesh A in Doha. After both sides finished on 194-194, the match went into a tie-breaker where India A collapsed without scoring a single run. Bangladesh A chased one run off a wide ball to enter the final.
The result shocked fans, especially because star opener Vaibhav Suryawanshi, who smashed 38 off 15 balls earlier, did not come out to bat in the Super Over.
After the match, captain Jitesh Sharma addressed the biggest question on everyone’s mind.
Jitesh explained that Super Over roles were decided based on the strengths of each player:
“Vaibhav and Priyansh are powerplay specialists. In death overs, I, Ashutosh, and Raman can hit freely. It was a team decision, and the final call was mine.”
His statement confirmed that the management felt Suryawanshi performs better against the new ball and may not have been ideal for a death-over situation. However, fans remain unconvinced, especially because Vaibhav was the most explosive batter of the day.
The captain looked emotional during the post-match ceremony. He accepted complete responsibility for India’s defeat:
“I take full responsibility. As a senior player, I should have finished the match. This result is a lesson for all of us. It’s not just about winning or losing — these young players have huge potential and may one day win a World Cup for India.”
Jitesh, who himself faced the first ball of the Super Over, was clean bowled on the very first delivery. Ashutosh Sharma followed him, falling on the next ball. India A ended the Super Over at 0/2 — without scoring a run.

India A were well positioned to win the match, needing 16 runs off the last over. Despite big blows from Ashutosh Sharma, the team failed to close the game.
- Ashutosh smashed a six and four
- India needed 4 off the last two balls
- But he got clean bowled by Rakibul Hasan
- On the last ball, India managed to steal 3 runs due to a misfield, tying the match
It was a thrilling finish — but one that exposed India’s struggle to handle pressure in the final moments.
Bangladesh A Hold Nerve in the Super Over
Bangladesh A began the Super Over needing just 1 run.
- First ball: wicket
- Second ball: wide from Suyash Sharma, handing Bangladesh the victory
That single extra run pushed them into the final, where they will face the winner of Pakistan A vs Sri Lanka A.
India A’s elimination is disappointing, especially after such a strong fight. Captain Jitesh Sharma’s honesty and accountability reflect maturity, but the decision to leave Vaibhav Suryawanshi out in the Super Over will remain a topic of debate.
