Each of these players delivered standout performances for their respective teams, proving once again why they are among the best in the business right now.
ICC Men’s Player of the Month – August 2025 Shortlist Announced
Mohammed Siraj – India’s Match-Winner at The Oval
Mohammed Siraj inclusion is no surprise. With Jasprit Bumrah unavailable, Siraj took charge of India’s pace attack in the final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series against England.
- Match Stats: 4/86 (1st innings) + 5/104 (2nd innings)
- Total Wickets: 9
- Average: 21.11
Siraj bowled more than 46 overs across both innings and played a crucial role in India’s dramatic 6-run victory at The Oval, which helped India level the series 2-2. His fiery spells earned him the Player of the Match award and praise from fans and former cricketers alike.
Matt Henry – The Destroyer Against Zimbabwe
New Zealand Matt Henry was in red-hot form during their two-Test series against Zimbabwe, finishing as Player of the Series.
- Total Wickets: 16 in 2 Tests
- Bowling Average: 9.12
Henry was unplayable in the first Test, taking 6/39 in the first innings and finishing with a match haul of 9/90. He continued his brilliance in the second Test with another five-wicket haul as New Zealand sealed a 2-0 series sweep with a massive innings victory.
Jayden Seales – West Indies’ ODI Hero
West Indies young pacer Jayden Seales delivered a historic performance in the three-match ODI series against Pakistan, helping his side clinch their first series win over Pakistan in 34 years.
- Total Wickets: 10 in 3 ODIs
- Average: 10
- Economy: 4.10
After a quiet start in the first ODI, Seales bounced back with a 3-wicket haul in the second ODI and then produced career-best figures of 6/18 in the decider – the third-best bowling figures ever by a West Indian in ODIs – to seal a 202-run victory.
The ICC has opened fan voting on its official website, allowing supporters worldwide to cast their vote for their favorite nominee. The winner will be determined by a combination of fan votes (10%) and the ICC Voting Academy (90%), with results to be announced in mid-September.
This month’s shortlist celebrates the impact of fast bowlers across formats – Siraj’s match-winning heroics in England, Henry’s dominance in Zimbabwe, and Seales’ brilliance in ODIs – reminding fans that pace bowling is still one of cricket’s biggest game-changers.
