As per the latest developments, Shah introduced the concept of match fees for players and season fees for the franchises. The BCCI secretary made the announcement through a social media post.
Shah wrote, “In a historic move to celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances in the IPL. we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers. A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount. Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season. This is a new era for the IPL and our players.”

The IPL already gives a lot of money to the players, which is even more than their central contract from their respective boards, but now the BCCI will give a per-match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs for each player featuring in the game. This amount will be different from the contracted amount of the player.

This is not it. If a player plays all the games in the league stage, he will receive a bonus amount of INR 1.05 crore, which will encourage players to perform well and be in the playing XI. Currently, a player gets the contracted amount from the franchise on which he was signed. Apart from that, others were rewarded like Man of the Match, most sixes, most fours, and others.
IPL 2025: How much money will a player earn?
Apart from the contracted amount, a player will receive INR 7.5 lakh per match for featuring in the playing XI. He can also earn by the post-match cash prizes, as each prize has a minimum worth of INR 1 lakh.
According to the new rule, a player, whether he is an uncapped or capped cricketer, can earn INR 10 lakh per match, which will be totally different from his contracted amount.
IPL 2025: Each IPL franchise can retain a maximum of Six players
Meanwhile, there has been a major announcement made ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. A team can retain a maximum of six players, with a minimum of one uncapped Indian player. The BCCI has increased the purse value for the team by INR 20 crore.
Now all franchises will have an amount of INR 120 crore to spend at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Another major update that the BCCI has given green signal to the rule of retaining former Indian players who have been away from international cricket for more than five years as uncapped players.
This will give the five-time champion Chennai Super Kings a golden chance to retain MS Dhoni in the uncapped player category for INR 4 crore. Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020. Meanwhile, the impact player rule will stay for the next season as well.
