Amid no screen time for Duleep Trophy 2025 matches, the cricket fans are expressing disappointment on social media. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is inviting criticism due to a lack of television broadcasting and live streaming for the second most prestigious domestic cricket tournament.
The tournament kicked off on August 28, filling in a void as no other major series is scheduled before the Asia Cup 2025 in September. This ongoing domestic tournament is creating buzz as big names who made waves during the England series are also playing in it. Moreover, it is expected to bring fortune for those cricketers who are sitting on the bench, trying to prove their worth and grab a spot in the next round of selection for the Indian team.
The importance of the Duleep Trophy is evident as it is a stage where several cricketers revamp their careers and other in-form players gear up for the next international clashes. As live streaming is not available, the fans took to social media, discarding the decision to avoid the streaming, angrily citing that even gully cricket matches are presented live on social media.
Before criticism grew louder, the BCCI shared, “Ready, set, cricket! New Domestic Season, renewed energy, fresh battles – it all starts with the #DuleepTrophy. Follow all the live scores only on http://BCCI.TV and the BCCI Official Apps.”
With no possibility to see Indian star players such as Mohammed Shami, Riyan Parag and Mukesh Kumar live on screen, the fans will miss the exciting cricketing action. The tournament holds significance for all players as Shami will be back after recovering from an injury. Besides the Bengal pacer, Rajat Patidar, Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Chahar and Kuldeep Yadav will try to make the most out of the domestic matches to be fit for upcoming tournaments.
Especially, Mumbai star player Shreyas Iyer will gain attention as he was excluded from the India squad for the Asia Cup 2025, irrespective of his notable IPL 2025 stint and being the top run-scorer for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
