The 27th CEAT Cricket Rating Awards 2025 turned into a celebration of Indian cricket as the country’s top players dominated across categories. The glittering ceremony in Mumbai saw some of the biggest names in world cricket walk away with honours, but it was Rohit Sharma, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma who stole the spotlight for India.
Adding to the grandeur, legendary West Indies batter Brian Lara and India’s spin great B.S. Chandrasekhar received the Lifetime Achievement Award, making it a memorable evening for fans.
Rohit Sharma Honoured After Champions Trophy Win
Former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who recently stepped down from ODI captaincy, was the main attraction of the event. He was presented with a Special Commemorative Trophy for leading India to the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy title.
This award carried extra weight as Rohit had also guided India to the 2024 T20 World Cup win in Barbados, making it two ICC trophies in as many years. His recognition marked a perfect tribute to his leadership era.
T20 Stars: Samson and Varun Shine Bright
In T20 cricket, India’s two star performers were celebrated:
- Sanju Samson was named the T20I Batter of the Year for his consistent and explosive performances. He edged past young talents like Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma to claim the honour.
- Varun Chakravarthy, India’s mystery spinner, bagged the T20I Bowler of the Year award for his match-winning spells that troubled batters throughout the season.
Their awards reflect India’s growing depth in the shortest format of the game.
Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma Dominate Women’s Awards
Indian women cricketers also made their presence felt in a big way.
- Smriti Mandhana won the International Women’s Batter of the Year after a series of spectacular centuries against Australia.
- Deepti Sharma picked up the International Women’s Bowler of the Year, underlining her status as one of the best all-rounders in world cricket.
Though they were absent from the ceremony due to World Cup commitments, their names were loudly cheered when announced.

It wasn’t just India’s night — international players were also honoured for their excellence.
- Joe Root (England) was crowned International Cricketer of the Year, returning to the top after nine years.
- Harry Brook (England) bagged Test Batter of the Year, while Prabath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka) was named Test Bowler of the Year.
