The 2024 BCCI awards took place in Hyderabad on 23rd January, 2024. The award ceremony was held for the first time after 2019 and the winners of the past four years were announced at the glitzy ceremony featuring members of both Men’s and Women’s cricket teams as guests. Star Indian cricketers won awards in different categories and domestic players were also acknowledged for their performances.
Young Indian batter Shubman Gill won the Polly Umrigar Award for the Best International Cricketer (Men) in the 2022-23. Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashiwn, and Jasprit Bumrah were also honored with the same award for 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22 respectively. On the other hand, Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana won the Best International Cricketer in Women’s category consecutively in 2019-20, 2022-23 and 2020-21, 2021-22 respectively.
Former Indian Cricketer and former Head Coach Ravi Shastri and Farokh Engineer were honoured with Col. C. K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award in the ceremony. On the other hand, young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal won the Best International debut (men) for 2022-23, along with Mayank Agarwal for 2019-20, Axar Patel for 2020-21, and Shreyas Iyer for 2021-22.
Following his tremendous performance in Ranji Trophy in the last couple of years, Sarfaraz Khan was honoured with Madhavrao Scindia Award for becoming the Highest Run-Getter in Ranji in the 2021-22 season, while Mayank Agarwal received the same award for the 2022-23 season.
