The Asia Cup 2025 is off to a great start as Afghanistan and India won the opening two matches of the tournament. The 3rd match sees the Bangladesh cricket team play their first match of the tournament against Hong Kong on Thursday, September 11.
Bangladesh has been regarded as one of Asia’s top three cricket teams. Although they have never won the coveted trophy, they have finished runners-up on three occasions. Things have been going downhill for them though recently. From once hailed as one of the favourites to now being rated an underdog team.

5: 127 Runs vs Afghanistan (T20I Asia Cup 2022)
At number five on our list is when Bangladesh scored 127 runs in their 2022 Asia Cup match against Afghanistan. The 2022 edition of the tournament was played in T20I format and Bangladesh played Afghanistan in the 3rd match of the tournament in Sharjah.
After opting to bat first, Bangladesh scored only 127 runs at a run rate of 6.25. The top order failed for them seriously having lost 4 wickets for 28 runs in 6.2 overs. From there Mahmudullah and Mosaddek Hossain scored 25 and 48 runs respectively to take Bangladesh to 127 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Afghanistan eventually won the match by 7 wickets.
4: 131 Runs vs Pakistan (T20I Asia Cup 2016)
Bangladesh cricket team’s 131 runs vs Pakistan in the 2016 T20I Asia Cup is fourth in the ranking. This was the first edition of the Asia Cup played in T20I format and Bangladesh hosted Pakistan in match 8 of the tournament in Mirpur.
After a brilliant bowling display, Bangladesh restricted the visitors to 129 runs. Chasing the target, Soumya Sarkar played a terrific knock on tricky spin-friendly conditions in Mirpur as he scored 48 runs off 48 balls. Mahmudullah scored 22 runs while small contributions from other batters helped Bangladesh win the match by 5 wickets in the 20th over.
3: 133 Runs vs U.A.E (T20I Asia Cup 2016)
At number three in the Bangladesh highest score in Asia Cup T20I format is when the Bangla Tigers scored 133 runs vs the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2016. It was the 3rd match of the tournament played in Mirpur.
Bangladesh batting first scored 133 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Mohammad Mithun was the top scorer with 47 runs off 41 balls. All-rounder Mahmudullah also contributed with 33 runs off 17 balls. The other batters outside the two were not up to the mark. Eventually Bangladesh won the match by 51 runs getting UAE out for 82 runs.
2: 147 Runs vs Sri Lanka (T20I Asia Cup 2016)
At number two in the list is when Bangladesh scored 147 runs in the 2016 Asia Cup vs Sri Lanka in match 5 of the tournament. Sabbir Rahman played a scintillating knock of 80 runs off 54 balls while Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah scored 32 and 23 runs respectively. The hosts Bangladesh later won the match by 23 runs.

And at the top of the list is their 183 runs scored vs Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai. It was the match number 5 of the tournament and Bangladesh made great use of the batting surface.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan led the charge at the top. The former scored 38 runs while Shakib scored 24 runs promoting himself to number 3. There were some solid performances in the middle-order as well from the trio of Afif Hossain, Mahmudullah and Mosaddek Hossain who all scored 39, 27 and 24 runs respectively.
However, Bangladesh still lost the match as Sri Lanka won by 2 wickets in the 20th over of the 2nd chasing.
