Shubman Gill Tipped to be the Top Run-Getter
All three panelists backed India star opener Shubman Gill to emerge as the highest run-scorer of Asia Cup 2025.
- Dinesh Karthik praised Gill hunger for runs and said: “The top run-getter in the Asia Cup for me should be Shubman Gill, purely because of the form that he is in. More importantly, he has a point to prove. He not been part of the T20 setup recently – he will come hungry and determined and make sure he gets the big runs for India.”
- Harsha Bhogle echoed Karthik views, emphasizing Gill all-round batting qualities: “If you’re looking at a proper batter who can bat long enough and give you a decent strike rate, that why I’m going with Shubman Gill.”
- Rohan Gavaskar highlighted Gill recent form in Tests as a sign of good touch: “Shubman Gill, for the simple reason that he a quality player. He looked in fabulous touch in that Test series – tells you that he in excellent rhythm.”
Gill elegant stroke play and ability to switch between formats seamlessly make him a perfect candidate to dominate the tournament, especially with India aiming to start strong in Group A.

Varun Chakravarthy Backed as Highest Wicket-Taker
When it came to bowlers, the panel unanimously backed India mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy to finish as the highest wicket-taker.

- Harsha Bhogle admitted it was a bit of a bold prediction but said Chakravarthy unique skillset could shine in the Asia Cup: “I might actually go out on a limb. I don’t know what his current form is but I’ll still say Varun Chakravarthy – his mystery factor can outfox batters.”
- Rohan Gavaskar focused on the tactical advantage Chakravarthy provides: “Varun Chakravarthy just strangles batters in those middle overs. The form he in, I think he’ll be the top wicket-taker of this year Asia Cup.”
On the spin-friendly pitches of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Chakravarthy variations could be crucial in breaking partnerships and building pressure during the middle phase of the innings.
Interestingly, the trio also agreed that India are favourites to win the Asia Cup 2025. With a balanced squad led by Suryakumar Yadav, an experienced bowling attack, and rising stars like Gill, they look well-placed to dominate the tournament and reclaim continental glory.
