The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken strict disciplinary action following multiple code of conduct violations during the Asia Cup 2025. Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has been handed a two-match suspension, while India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has been fined 30% of his match fee. The sanctions come after heated on-field gestures and post-match remarks that breached ICC’s Article 2.21 — related to conduct that damages the spirit of the game.
Haris Rauf Faces Suspension
Haris Rauf actions during the high-voltage India-Pakistan encounters landed him in trouble. The pacer repeated his controversial “jet-crashing” gesture during the Asia Cup final, prompting ICC to impose a 30% fine and two demerit points. With four demerit points in total, Rauf will now miss two upcoming ODIs against South Africa. The decision was confirmed by the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees after reviewing multiple incidents involving the bowler across India-Pakistan matches on September 14, 21, and 28.
Surya Kumar Yadav Penalized
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav was also found guilty of violating ICC’s conduct code. He was fined 30% of his match fee and given two demerit points for comments made after the group match, where he expressed strong political sentiments following the Pahalgam attack. The ICC termed the remarks as “harmful to the image of the sport.”

Other Players Warned
Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan received an official warning and one demerit point for his “gun celebration” after dismissing an Indian batter. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was given one demerit point for a similar “jet” gesture but escaped a fine after accepting the charge immediately. Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh was cleared of any wrongdoing.
ICC’s Final Word
The ICC clarified that all these breaches fall under Level 1 offenses, which carry penalties of up to 50% of the match fee and one or two demerit points. Officials stressed that players representing their nations in high-profile tournaments must “set an example of sportsmanship and discipline.”
With this controversy, the Asia Cup 2025 – which India won after defeating Pakistan in the final – continues to make headlines, not just for cricketing excellence but also for on-field tensions and disciplinary fallout.
