LSG Fell Just Short in IPL 2025 – Markram Reflects on Missed Moments
LSG finished 7th in IPL 2025, with six wins and eight losses, missing out on the playoffs by a small margin. Markram believes the team was not far from success.
He explained:
“I don’t think we were too far last season. We played some really good cricket but missed a few key moments. If we had grabbed those important phases, results would have been very different.”
The South African opener added that the plan for IPL 2026 is about simplifying strategies rather than overthinking.
“There’s no need to complicate things. We just need to repeat what we did well and convert tough moments in our favour,” he said.
Markram emphasised that the team must stay strong as a group and maintain belief during pressure situations. He said LSG were “very close to qualifying” and with a little more execution in crunch overs, they can reach the knockout stages in IPL 2026.
While preparing for IPL 2026, Markram is also part of the South African squad touring India for the Test and limited-overs series. His strong form will be crucial both for his national team and for LSG’s future plans.
Aiden Markram positive mindset, strong IPL 2025 numbers, and gratitude towards the franchise make him a key player in LSG strategy for IPL 2026. With retention confirmed and clarity in approach, the South African opener aims to drive LSG towards a stronger, more consistent season next year.
