Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Abhishek Sharma has been summoned by the police over suicide case of the model Tania Singh. Notably, Tania was found dead at her residence in Surat on Tuesday, 20th February. With further investigation, the police found that Abhishek Sharma, who plays for Punjab in domestic cricket and SRH in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is one of the friends of Tania and his number was found in her call details.
Tania, who was a 29-year-old model and an event manager, was in connection with Abhishek and had also shared a few pictures with him on her social media. According to a report by India Today, Tania messaged Abhishek on his mobile but the cricketer didn’t respond. Now , the police will send a notice to Abhishek for questioning in the upcoming days.
“We have registered a case of accidental death in the suicide. We are taking statements of witnesses. We have also sought details of CDR-IPDR from telecom companies. Once we receive the details, we will send notice to concerned persons if it is necessary to take their statements,”
Commissioner of Police (G division) VR Malhotra was quoted as saying by DNA India.
Abhishek Sharma came out as a promising youngest in the last couple of seasons in the IPL. The 23-year-old amassed 226 runs from 11 matches in IPL 2023 at an average of 20.55 and a strike rate of 143.95. He has been retained by SRH for IPL 2024.
