Kenny Smith Early Life and Career
Kenny Smith was born in Brooklyn on 8th March, 1965. However, he was raised in Queens, spending most of his time in the LeFrak City neighbourhood. Smith used to play Basketball at Riverside Church in New York and later joined Stephen A. Halsey Junior High School in Rego Park, Queens. He did his high-schooling from Archbishop Molloy High School, where he sharpened his Basketball skills under Jack Curran, who has the most wins in New York City and New York State history as a High-School Head Coach.
Smith began his college career with North Carolina where he met junior Michael Jordan and senior Sam Perkin. He also led North Carolina to the Elite Eight in 1985, where they went to lose against the eventual national champion Villanova. He was named Consensus All-American (1st Team) as a senior in 1987.
Kenny Smith was a part of the United States National Basketball team that won the Gold Medal in the 1986 FIBA World Championship, along with David Robinson, Muggsy Bogues and Steve Kerr.
