Son of wrestler Dusty Rhodes and step-brother of Dustin Rhodes was born destined to be a wrestler. Cody started to train for wrestling from the age of 12 coached and trained by his father Dusty and brother Dustin himself.
Cody had a successful high school wrestling career at Marietta. He won the Georgia state tournament for both Junior and Senior high school years in 2003 and 2004.
