WPL MI Retained Players List 2025: The third edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2025) is just a few months away. Five franchises will be competing in the tournament, which has taken the world by storm. However, there is likely to be a miniauction ahead of the start of the WPL 2025. But before that, all five franchises will have to decide whom to retain and whom to release.
On Thursday, November 7, the inaugural season winner Mumbai Indians released the list of players for the upcoming WPL 2025. The franchise has decided to retain all the big names and to keep the same set of players who have been part of the last two editions. However, four players have been axed and released by the franchise.
WPL 2025: Mumbai Indians (MI) retained 14 players from the last season
Harmanpreet Kaur will be leading the team in the WPL 2025. Just like the IPL, the franchise has kept all their big names for the next season as well. Yastika Bhatia, Pooja Vastrakar, S Sajana, and Saika Ishaque are the capped Indians to be retained. On the other hand, MI has retained the likes of Amelia Kerr, Chole Tyron, Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Shabnim Ismail in the overseas category.
These retentions were expected as these players have been key parts of the side for the last two seasons. However, English pacer Isabelle Wong, who played a crucial role in winning the WPL 2023, has been released. The other three players to be released are Priyanka Bala, Fatima Jaffer, and Humairaa Kaazi. MI couldn’t defend their title last season and finished third on the table. So, they will be looking to bounce back well and add some good players for the next season.
