In the WPL 2024, five franchises represent all the major states across India including Delhi, Mumbai, Gujrat, UP, and Bangalore. All these five franchises are sponsored by the biggest business tycoons including Reliance, Royal Challengers Liquor, and Addani Group.
The main motive behind the WPL is to give a stage to the domestic women cricketer. The reason the franchise only bid for the 6 overseas players.

WPL is also sponsored by the Tata Group just like the Men’s T20 IPL. The first WPL Auction 2023 was held in Mumbai with $1.5 million (around INR 12 crore) allotted to each franchise to bid on the 15-18 players. Franchises were allowed to bid on six overseas players
