England are all set to clash with India in the 4th Test at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, with the defining phase of the five-match series running from July 23 to 27. As India is trailing behind 1-2, this Test match is a do-or-die contest for Shubman Gill’s team while Ben Stokes-led England will aim to seal the series with authority at home conditions.
In the last three Test matches, the bowling first team won only one match, while the batting first side claimed victory on two occasions. During these games, England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss in all three matches and lost just one game at Edgbaston, where Indian batters read the pitch well. On the other hand, Indian skipper Shubman Gill hasn’t claimed the toss in a single match yet, and the team has lost two times.
India won only one match under Gill, while England boasts 22 victories in the captaincy of Ben Stokes out of 36 clashes where he led the team. His toss win percentage stands equal to 58.33%. Meanwhile, Gill will be in the spotlight as he is yet to play a Test match after winning the toss. So, the toss factor is going to be decisive in the upcoming crucial contest between England and India.
