1. Brett Lee vs Bangladesh in 2007 T20 World Cup
Australian legenday pacer Brett Lee was the first ever bowler to take a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup. He achieved this feat in the inaugural edition in 2007. It came in a match against Bangladesh when Lee dismissed Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, and Alok Kapali off three consecutive balls. He ended up with 3/27. Australia won that game by nine wickets. Bangladesh made 123/8, and Australia scored 124/1 in 13.5 overs.
2. Curtis Campher vs Netherlands in 2021 T20 World Cup
It took 15 years for a bowler to take a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup since Brett Lee did it in 2007. This time, it was Irish all-rounder Curtis Campher who made history. Because he didn’t take a hat-trick, he took a double hat-trick and dismissed four batters on four consecutive balls. He became only the second bowler after Lasith Malinga to take a double-hat trick in a T20I. Campher dismissed Coin Ackermann, Ryan ten Doeschate, Scott Edwards, and Roelof van der Merwe to help his team win the game.
3. Wanindu Hasaranga vs South Africa in 2021 T20 World Cup
Sri Lankan superstar Wanindu Hasaranga ended the 2021 T20 World Cup as the highest wicket-taker, taking 16 wickets. In that edition, he also became the first Sri Lankan to take a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup. He did it against South Africa when he dismissed Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma, and Dwaine Pretorius to complete this feat. But this came in a losing cause as South Africa won that game by 4 wickets.
4. Kagiso Rabada vs Engalnd in 2021 T20 World Cup
For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada achieved this feat for the first time. It came in the 2021 T20 World Cup, in a match against England in Sharjah. It came at a crucial time. South Africa made 189/2 in the first innings. Chasing the score, England were 176/5 and needed 14 runs in the last over. But Rabada dismissed Chris Woakes, Eoin Morgan, and Chris Jordan to win the game for his team by ten runs. His hat-trick broke the backbone of England’s chase, and South Africa won.
5. Karthik Meiyappan vs Sri Lanka in 2022 T20 World Cup
There were multiple bowlers who took hat-tricks in the 2022 T20 World Cup. One of them was the leg-spinner from the UAE, Karthik Meiyappan. The leg-spinner did it in the sixth match against Sri Lanka at Geelong. He dismissed Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charitha Asalanka, and Dasun Shanaka to complete this record. But the UAE lost the game by 79 runs. However, this is the only hattrick from the UAE in T20 internationals.
6. Joshua Little vs New Zealand in 2022 T20 World Cup
In the 2022 edition, another Irish bowler registered a hat-trick. It was Josh Little who had this moment against New Zealand. It was the 37th game of the tournament at Adelide Oval. It came in a losing cause as New Zealand won it by 35 runs. But Little was impressive, as he dismissed Kane Williamson, James Neesham, and Mitchell Santner off three consecutive balls and took 3/22.
7. Pat Cummins vs Bangladesh in the 2024 T20 World Cup
Pat Cummins became the second Australian bowler to register a T20 World Cup hat-trick. He did it against Bangladesh in match no. 44 in North Sound. Batting first, Bangladesh made 140/8, and Cummins completed his hat-trick and dismissed Mahmudullah, Mahedi Hasan, and Towhid Hridoy. He dismissed Mahmudullah and Mehdi Hasan on the last two balls of his third over and then dismissed Hridoy on the first ball of his fourth over.
8. Pat Cummins vs Afghanistan in 2024 T20 World Cup
Cummins became the first ever bowler to take two T20 World Cup hat-tricks in two consecutive games. After taking the hat-trick against Bangladesh and following it up with another one in the next match against Afghanistan. He dismissed Rashid Khan, Karim Janat, and Gulbadin Naib on three balls to achieve this feat, and he registered his name in the record books.
9. Chris Jordan vs United States in 2024 T20 World Cup
The most recent bowler to take a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup is English pacer Chris Jordan. He did it in the 49th match of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Bridgetown. Jordan dismissed Ali Khan, Nosthush Kenjige, and Saurabh Netravalkar and took four wickets in his over to dismiss the USA at 115 runs. England made 117/0 in just 9.4 overs to win the game by ten wickets.
