The Early Life of Shubman Gill
Born on September 8, 1999, Shubman was a kid who showcased the potential of an extremely promising career in cricket. His father, Lakhwinder Singh, was an agriculturist who created a cricket ground on their farm for Gill to practice cricket with the local boys. Also, he received coaching in the sport at school for some time that polished his skills and outshinned him in the eyes of his loved ones. His family then further moved to Mohali, Punjab near the Punjab Cricket Association stadium for Shubman to train himself in the sport at a higher level. With constant dedication and full support from his family, the talented prodigy kicked off his cricketing career by being a part of the under-16 team of Punjab in the Vijay Merchant Trophy at the age of 14. In 2014, Shubman Gill already started to shine; scored 351 runs in the Inter-District Under-16 Competition and shared an extraordinary score of 587 with Nirmal Singh. Kolkata Knight Riders (2018 – 2021)
Gill started off his journey as an IPL team player in January 2018, when he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2018 IPL auction. He made his IPL debut with the same team on April 14, 2018. However, Gill scored only 208 runs in the entire IPL tournament of 2018.
In the 2019 IPL, Gill was again a part of KKR and scored 296 runs in the season. On the plus side, Gill won the emerging player of the tournament award, which added to his popularity.
