SuperSport Park Pitch Report: Batting or Bowling?
The pitch at SuperSports Park has always been an excellent batting wicket. It is not a big venue and has boundaries less than 60 meters on the squad. This is why it is very difficult for the bowlers to bowl here and contain the batters. Adding to that, the outfield is very fast, and a slight fielding error can go for boundaries.
There is not much help for the bowlers. Fast bowlers will get very slight assistance with the new ball, but not much. Even a top edge can carry over the boundary line. The average score here in T20I is 175, which indicates a lot that batters have enjoyed at this venue.
The record for the highest ever T20I chase of 259 by South Africa was recorded at this venue. That shows how difficult this venue is for bowlers and brilliant for the batters. The batting conditions will remain the same throughout 40 overs, so there won’t be much difference in the toss.
