Pat Cummins took over the captaincy for the first time when Tim Paine shockingly stepped down from the test captaincy in November 2019. Cummins’ first assignment as Test captain was the home Ashes 2021-22 series. On the other hand, in ODIs, he was appointed the captain in November 2022 when Aaron Finch announced his international retirement. His captaincy experience in ODIs was of just four matches ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, but he ended up winning the title.

Pat Cummins Capaincy Records in Tests
Pat Cummins became the 47th player to lead Australia in test cricket when he took over the charge in November 2019. As a captain, Cummins has led Australia in nine bilateral test series and won five of them. He has yet to lose a test series as test captain. He has led Australia in 29 Tests and won 17 of them.

Pat Cummins Capaincy Records in ODIs
Cummins took over the ODI captaincy of Australia after the retirement of Aaron Finch in November 2022. Interestingly, he soon got success when he led Australia to win the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. He had led Australia in only four games before that ICC tournament.

Interestingly, the man that has led Australia to two ICC titles in ODIs and Tests hasn’t led them even once in the shortest format of the game. Cummins has not led Australia in T20Is.
