Double hundreds in ODI: In ODIs, every batsman aspires to play a long innings where he can score the highest score from his side. Over the years there have several batsman who have played high scoring innings and have registered the highest scores in One Day Internationals. A lot of players have scored double hundreds which been registered as the highest ever scores in the format. Let’s take a look at the top batsmen to hit most double centuries in ODI cricket.

Indian opener Rohit Sharma has had a fabulous record of double centuries in his career. Rohit has scored 3 double centuries in his career which also makes him the only batsman to score most double centuries in a career. Rohit scored his first ever double century against Australia in 2013 where he scored 209 runs. This also made him the first and the only batsman to score a double hundred in Australia. His then followed up with another double century against Sri Lanka in 2014, playing a knock of 264, which was the highest ever score in ODIs.
Rohit then scored another double ton against Sri Lanka where he made 208 runs. This made him the only batsman to hit two double centuries against Sri Lanka.
Kiwi opener Martin Guptill played the game of his life at the 2015 world cup against the West Indies when he scored 237 runs, making him the first and the only player from his country to hit in ODI double hundred. Guptill also holds the record of the highest ever individual score by a New Zealand batsman in his career.
Indian opener Virender Sehwag became the second Indian after Sachin Tendulkar to hit a double ton in ODI cricket. Sehwag was playing against the West Indies in 2010 where he deposited the deliveries all over the park with his gigantic hits. This also made him the first player to hit a double century against the West Indies.

Chris Gayle is known for his destructive batting style in limited over formats of the game. The left-hander was up against the Zimbabwe at the 2015 ODI World Cup. Gayle played an outstanding 215 run knock against his opponents and registered his name as the only West Indies player to hit a double ton in One-Day Internationals.

Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman played a breath-taking knock against Zimbabwe. Fakhar hit 210 runs to outshine the Zimbabwe bowlers and become the second different player to register a double ton against his opponents after Chris Gayle.

Indian youngster Ishan Kishan was up against Bangladesh in 2022 where he made history by hitting the quickest double century in ODI cricket. The Indian also became the fourth different player from his country to achieve this stint. Ishan scored 210 runs in just 126 balls. Ishan’s score was also the fifth-highest score in ODI cricket.

Adding a galore of centuries to his name, Shubman Gill had a match to remember when he scored 208 runs against New Zealand in 2023. Gill also became the fifth different player from his country to hit a double century in ODIs. Not only this, Gill also became the first player to hit a double century against New Zealand which was also the highest ever score by a player against New Zealand in ODIs.
Known as the God of cricket, Sachin was up against South Africa in 2010 when he became the first ever player to hit a double hundred in One Day Internationals. Sachin scored an impressive 200 runs of 147 balls to enter the record books and create history. He also remains as the only player to hit a double ton against South Africa.
