Star Australian pacer Mitchell Starc is now the most expensive buy in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-arm pacer was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a whopping ₹24.75 crore after the franchise won a fierce bidding war against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024 auction. Starc surpassed his Australian skipper Pat Cummins who was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for ₹20.50 crore earlier at the same event.
Starc is now all set to make his IPL return after nine years. He was last seen playing in the cash-rich league in 2015 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He was also picked by KKR ahead of IPL 2018 for ₹9.4 crore but missed out of the entire season due to an ankle injury. However, Starc made him available for the IPL 2024 auction and now became the most expensive player in the history of the tournament.
