In October 2024, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Mohammad Rizwan as the full-time captain for both white-ball formats. His first assignment as ODI captain was against Australia in Australia. And it was a historic series for Pakistan as Rizwan led them to a bilateral ODI series win in Australia after 22 years.
